By Kathleen L.
A short vocabulary review packet on alcohol, using matching and fill-in-the-blank activities to introduce key terms like depressant, ethanol, tolerance, fermentation, metabolize, and cirrhosis, plus legal terminology. Designed for 6th graders reading at a 6th-grade level, it works well for a single class period or a quick warm-up before a health or science discussion.

Teacher Guide & Tips
- Use this as a 15-20 minute review after a lesson or reading on alcohol, or as a warm-up to introduce the vocabulary before a longer discussion.
- Discussion question: Why might a body develop tolerance to alcohol, and why is that dangerous? Ask students to explain in their own words.
- Scaffold for struggling readers: Provide a word bank or allow students to work in pairs for the matching section, and read definitions aloud before they begin.
- Extension for advanced students: Ask them to write one sentence using each term correctly, or to explain how fermentation connects to ethanol in everyday drinks.
- Estimated time: About 20 minutes for the matching section and legal terms fill-in, plus a few minutes for review and answer checking.
