Halloween Conjunction Cut-and-Paste for 4th Grade
A cut-and-paste grammar activity for 4th graders, roughly two sentence pages long, where students fill twenty blanks with coordinating conjunctions (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) using Halloween-themed "tombstone" cutouts. It builds recognition of coordinating conjunctions and sentence-level fluency, with a tip to read each completed sentence aloud as a self-check.

Teacher Guide & Tips
- Use this as a 20-30 minute independent or partner station after a mini-lesson on coordinating conjunctions (FANBOYS), so students already know the seven words before they cut.
- Discussion question: Why does "so" fit one sentence but "nor" fit another, and what does each conjunction tell the reader about the relationship between the two ideas?
- Scaffold for struggling readers: provide a word bank of the seven conjunctions at the top of the page and allow them to read each sentence aloud with each option before choosing.
- Extension for advanced students: have them write two original sentences that each use a different coordinating conjunction and explain why the chosen word works better than the alternatives.
- Estimated time: about 25 minutes including cutting and pasting, with an additional 5 minutes for a whole-class check of answers.
