Lectura y Comprensión: Ropa y Verbos en Español
By Ruben R.
A short Spanish reading packet with multiple-choice comprehension questions that introduces clothing vocabulary alongside the verbs llevar, tener, preferir, and ser. It is designed for beginning (Level 1) high school Spanish students, who practice recognizing verb conjugations and matching clothing words to meaning in context.
Customize for your classroom
Teacher Guide & Tips
- Use this as a 30-40 minute independent or partner reading block after students have reviewed the clothing vocabulary glossary at the top of the packet.
- Discussion question: ¿Qué llevas cuando hace frío? Ask students to answer in full Spanish sentences using llevar, and follow up by asking which verb (tener or ser) they would use to describe a favorite item.
- Scaffold for struggling readers: Have them underline each conjugated verb in the passage and look it up in the conjugation table before answering the multiple-choice questions.
- Extension for advanced students: Ask them to rewrite one paragraph using preferir and a second clothing item, then explain how the verb form changes with each subject pronoun.
- Plan roughly 5 minutes for the vocabulary review and 25 minutes for reading and answering questions.
