Teacher Guide & Tips
- Use this as a 30 to 45 minute warm-up or review after students have read the definitions, so they can test their recall before tackling the application items.
- Discussion question: Why would a database need a primary key, and what could go wrong if two records shared the same identifier?
- Scaffold for struggling readers: Pair them with a partner or provide a glossary card with plain-language definitions to reference during the matching section.
- Extension for advanced students: Ask them to sketch a simple two-table relational database for a scenario of their choice, identifying the primary and foreign keys.
- Estimated time: about 35 minutes for the matching and application sections together, plus a few minutes for a whole-class debrief.
