English Language Arts6-8
Pronouns and Adjectives in Action Practice Set
By Laura C.
A guided grammar practice set for 7th graders that walks students through identifying pronouns and adjectives in single sentences and then in full paragraphs. It opens with a short grammar guide and a sentence-by-sentence worksheet where students label bold words as pronouns or adjectives, building toward applying those skills in context.
Customize for your classroom
Teacher Guide & Tips
- Use this as a 20 to 30 minute warm-up or practice block after a brief mini-lesson on pronouns and adjectives, with the grammar guide read aloud first.
- Discussion question: Why do words like "that" and "your" sometimes act as pronouns and sometimes as adjectives? What clue in the sentence tells you which role it plays?
- Scaffold for struggling readers: Have them underline the noun each bold word refers to or modifies before deciding, and pair them with a partner for the first two or three items.
- Extension for advanced students: Ask them to rewrite a paragraph from the set, swapping pronouns for nouns or adding new adjectives, and explain how the meaning or tone changes.
- Estimated time: about 25 minutes for the sentence section, plus 10 to 15 minutes if you include the paragraph portion.
