Each quiz mixes multiple-choice and short-answer questions and includes a Words to Remember section for support.
“I want you to create 2 comprehensive quizzes based on the the 2 links to get the students ready for the unit assessment. You may add anything else that you think will benefit the students. Also do not do anything with part 4 of the assessment since I have that covered already”
Teacher Guide & Tips
- Use one quiz per class period as a review session in the days leading up to the unit assessment, or assign them as homework checks to gauge readiness.
- Discussion question: How did the geography of the Maya region, with its cenotes and city-states, differ from the mountainous land of the Inca, and how might that have shaped each civilization's government?
- Scaffold for struggling readers: Pre-read the Words to Remember list together, then have students highlight the vocabulary terms in each question before answering.
- Extension for advanced students: Ask them to compare how tribute systems worked in the Aztec and Inca empires and write a short paragraph explaining one similarity and one difference.
- Estimated time: about 30 to 45 minutes per quiz, including a brief review of answers afterward.
