LAWorks Career Exploration Scavenger Hunt for Grades 11-12
A web-based scavenger hunt of about 20 to 25 tasks that sends 11th and 12th graders through the Louisiana Workforce Commission's LAWorks site to research careers, pay outlooks, licensing requirements, and apprenticeships. It builds college and career readiness, digital research, and informational reading skills, and works well as a 45-minute computer lab or flexible block activity.

Teacher Guide & Tips
- Introduce the LAWorks site as a practical tool for planning life after high school, then have students complete the hunt individually or in pairs on a device with internet access.
- Discussion question: Which career on the 'Star Jobs' list surprised you, and what education or training path would it require?
- Scaffold for students who struggle with navigation: provide a screenshot or a short list of where each menu item lives, and let them complete the first five tasks together before working independently.
- Extension for advanced students: have them compare two careers' wages, growth outlook, and licensing requirements, then write a one-paragraph recommendation on which path fits their goals best.
- Estimated time: about 45 minutes for the full hunt, plus 10 minutes for a closing debrief on what students learned about the Louisiana job market.
