Dissolution Station Rotation for 7th Grade
This 6-station packet guides 7th graders through the concepts of dissolution, including key vocabulary, STAAR-style practice, and CER/SCR writing. It's designed for a station rotation activity to build understanding of chemical processes.
“A station rotation with 6 centers. 1 of the stations need to be a vocabulary dump and pick with these vocabulary words: agitation, aqueous solution, dissolution, rate of dissolution, solute, surface area, and temperature, another stations needs to be a STAAR question where they have to explain why the wrong answers are wrong, we show them the correct one, and a nother stations has to be an SCR or CER”
Teacher Guide & Tips
- Use this packet as a station rotation activity, allocating approximately 10-15 minutes per station.
- Discussion question: How does increasing the surface area of a solute affect the rate of dissolution?
- For struggling readers, provide sentence frames or a graphic organizer for the CER/SCR station.
- Advanced learners can research and present on factors affecting solubility beyond those listed.
