“I need an assignment for 11th grade college and career students about how to be a great leader with vocabulary and skills associated with being a great manager”
Teacher Guide & Tips
- Use this as a 30-45 minute warm-up or review in a college and career readiness or business-leaning course, after a brief discussion of what makes a manager effective versus a leader.
- Discussion question: Which of these terms do you think is hardest to practice in a real team, and why? Ask students to give a brief example from a job, sports team, or group project.
- Scaffold for struggling readers: Pre-teach three or four key terms (such as delegation and empowerment) with a plain-language definition and one everyday example before students attempt the matching.
- Extension for advanced students: Have them write a short paragraph describing a scenario where two of the terms conflict or must be balanced, such as empowering a team member while keeping a project on schedule.
- Estimated time: About 15 minutes for the matching section, plus 15-25 minutes for the scenario questions and discussion.
