Missing Numbers on Number Lines for Grade 2
A short Spanish-language practice worksheet where 2nd graders find the missing number on counting-by-ones number lines and write it in a large answer box. It builds number sequencing and counting-on skills, with the number lines and boxes sized for easy writing.
“i need the exact same activity (same number lines and i need a box where each missing number is). students will write the missing number in the box. the box needs to be big enough for a student to write in. please make numberlines big and clear, and the box for each missing number big enough”
Teacher Guide & Tips
- Use as a warm-up or independent practice during a math block (about 10 to 15 minutes), after students are comfortable counting forward and backward within 100 or 1,000.
- Discussion question: How did you know which number goes in the blank box? What number comes just before and just after it?
- Scaffold for struggling readers: Point to each tick mark and count aloud together with the student, or provide a hundred chart or number line strip they can use to check their answer.
- Extension for advanced students: Ask them to create their own number line with a missing number for a partner to solve, or to extend the pattern beyond the given range.
- Estimated time: About 10 to 15 minutes for the full set of problems.
