Executive Functioning and Nervous System Toolkit
A 30-minute, one-on-one toolkit designed for a 9th grader with a demanding schedule. It supports executive functioning skills and provides strategies for managing stress and panic, incorporating a weekly check-in.
“This is Megan's work from our session last week. Create a new document for our follow up session this week. This activitity should last around 30 minutes in a one on one session. It should still have a weekly check in, executive functioning support for a high school freshman with a lot of honors classes and after school activities. AND most importantly, I need to provide Megan with Strategies to calm the nervous system in times of stress/panic.”
Teacher Guide & Tips
- Use as a 30-minute one-on-one session to build executive functioning and stress management skills.
- Discussion question: How can you apply these nervous system regulation strategies when you feel overwhelmed by your schedule?
- Scaffold for struggling students: Practice one grounding technique together before diving into the executive functioning tasks.
- Extension for advanced students: Have students research and present on the physiological effects of chronic stress.
