Math6-8
Decimal, Fraction, and Percent Conversions Practice
By Lisa D.
A practice packet for 6th graders that walks through converting between decimals, fractions, and percents, with worked examples and Roblox-themed word problems. It builds conversion fluency and applied reasoning, and works well as a guided practice set or independent homework.
Customize for your classroom
Teacher Guide & Tips
- Introduce the three conversion rules from the conversion guide with a quick whole-class demo, then have students complete the worked example together before moving to independent problems.
- Discussion question: Why does moving the decimal point two places give the same result as dividing by 100, and when might you prefer one method over the other?
- Scaffold for struggling readers: provide a place value chart and let students write each decimal's place name (tenths, hundredths) before converting to a fraction.
- Extension for advanced students: have them create their own Roblox-style word problem that requires converting between at least two of the three forms, then trade with a partner.
- Estimated time: about 45 minutes for the full set, or two shorter sessions of 20-25 minutes each.
