Math Review for 9th Grade
A 5-page review packet for 9th graders, designed to prepare students for an upcoming test by presenting similar problem types with varied contexts and graphical representations. This resource aims to reinforce understanding of key mathematical concepts without directly replicating test questions.
“I would like to create a review assignment based on the test I plan to give to the students. I do not want any of the problems that appear on the test to appear on the review assignment. The review assignment should contain similar problems, but with different contexts. The problems should contain graphs and tables that are similar to the ones on the test, but not identical. I will attach the test.”
Teacher Guide & Tips
- Use this packet as a homework assignment or a station rotation activity in the days leading up to the test.
- Discussion question: How does changing the context of a problem affect your approach to solving it?
- For struggling readers, consider pre-teaching key vocabulary or providing sentence starters for explaining their reasoning.
- Advanced students can be challenged to create their own word problems based on the graphs and tables provided.
- Estimated time: 1-2 class periods.
