Station Rotation: Counting to 20 Practice
A multi-station math packet that helps early learners count to 20, with a "Teen Train" station for practicing the tricky 11–20 numbers and a "Counting Collections" station for hands-on counting. Students work with a partner, pointing to and saying numbers aloud, then discuss what makes the teen numbers sound different.

Teacher Guide & Tips
- Use this as a station rotation during a 30–40 minute math block, with pairs moving between stations and spending about 10 minutes at each.
- Discussion question: Which numbers sound different from the others, and why do you think 11 and 12 are special?
- Scaffold for struggling readers and counters: have them count aloud with the teacher first, use the printed number boxes to point and say each number, and start from 11 before attempting the full 11–20 range.
- Extension for advanced students: ask them to count backward from 20 to 11 or skip-count by 2s along the train cars, then explain the pattern they notice.
- Estimated time: roughly 5 minutes for the Teen Train station and a comparable amount for the Counting Collections station, depending on group size.
